Germaine Tan

Germaine Tan, APAM, MACP is a clinician-researcher and senior physiotherapist with expertise in cancer rehabilitation, exercise oncology and gerontology. She has over 15 years of clinical experience across acute and community healthcare settings in Australia and Singapore, supporting people affected by cancer and other health complexities to optimise function, independence and quality of life.

As a recipient of an NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarship in 2024, Germaine is currently completing a full-time PhD at La Trobe University and Eastern Health, Melbourne, Australia. Her doctoral research investigates how the timing and delivery of exercise rehabilitation can be optimised across the cancer continuum to improve patient outcomes and support integration of rehabilitation within routine cancer care.

Alongside her research, Germaine serves as National Chair of the Australian Physiotherapy Association Cancer, Palliative Care and Lymphoedema Group and Australian Liaison for World Physiotherapy’s International Physiotherapists for HIV/AIDS, Oncology, Palliative Care Empowerment subgroup. She has contributed to the development and delivery of cancer rehabilitation education programs for healthcare professionals and is a strong advocate for evidence-based, equitable and timely access to high-quality supportive care for all people affected by cancer.
