Dr Hattie Wright is an advanced Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Associate Professor in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Her research has a strong focus on improving physical and mental health outcomes for adults living with chronic disease and those transitioning across life stages. Her work examines the factors that influence health behaviours, including healthy eating, and develops strategies to strengthen self-management and improve long-term outcomes. This includes research on dietary patterns and their relationship to cardiometabolic, musculoskeletal, and mental health, as well as the broader impact on disease burden and health service use. Hattie has a particular interest in supportive care for people diagnosed with cancer, especially during survivorship, where nutrition and efficient triage can play a critical role in recovery, wellbeing, and ongoing care. Her conference presentation, From Treatment to Thriving: The Role of Nutrition and Efficient Triage in Survivorship Care, draws on this work to highlight practical pathways for improving post-treatment support. Her research aims to translate evidence into meaningful, person-centred care that helps people not only recover from illness but thrive beyond it.
