Prof Elina Hyppönen

Professor Elina Hyppönen is the Director: Australian Centre for Precision Health, and Academic and Portfolio Lead: Research Excellence and Engagement, School of Public Health, Adelaide University, Australia. She was recruited to Adelaide as the Professor in Nutritional and Genetic Epidemiology in 2013, following 12 years at the University College London, UK. She is a current holder of National Health and Medical Research Council Leadership Award (L2) and also holds appointments as Senior Principal Research Fellow at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) and as an Adjunct Professor in Epidemiology at Tampere University, Finland.

Professor Hyppönen has an interdisciplinary background, with academic qualifications in epidemiology, medical statistics, nutrition and public health, and an extensive track record working with large scale population and genetic association studies. Professor Hyppönen has a H-factor of 93, cited over 54,000 times. She has authored more than 240 high-profile-referred publications and several book chapters. She leads the Nutritional and Genetic Epidemiology group, and her current interests are related to the methods of causal analyses and implementing systems epidemiology approaches to establish effective strategies for prediction and prevention of complex chronic diseases.
