Prof Sallie Pearson

Sallie is a pharmacoepidemiologist and leading authority in population based research using routinely collected health and social data. She has led national and international studies leveraging big health data to generate real world evidence on the use, benefits and safety of prescribed medicines. Sallie is Professor of Health Systems, Head of the Medicines Intelligence Research Program in the School of Population Health, and Theme Principal for Health Systems Research at UNSW. She also directs the NHMRC Medicines Intelligence Centre of Research Excellence (MI CRE), a national collaboration advancing real world evidence generation for policy decisions. Sallie is a long standing advocate for the safe and productive use of data and has published widely on maximising data for health decision making. She serves on peak committees, including the PBAC Drug Utilisation Sub Committee, the Australian Statistics Advisory Council, and the Board of the NSW Bureau of Health Information.
