Anita Dessaix

Anita Dessaix is Director, Cancer Prevention & Advocacy at Cancer Council NSW and Chair of Cancer Council Australia's Public Health Committee. She is also Vice President of the Public Health Association of Australia (PHAA) NSW Branch and an Adjunct Fellow in the School of Population Health at UNSW Sydney. Anita has more than 20 years' experience in public health and has held senior leadership positions across government, non-government and consulting sectors. She currently leads Cancer Council NSW's prevention, screening and advocacy agenda and is a national leader in cancer prevention policy. A respected public health advocate and spokesperson, her areas of expertise include tobacco control, vaping regulation, cancer screening, obesity prevention, alcohol policy and sun protection. Anita is currently undertaking a Professional Doctorate in Public Health at UNSW, investigating the experiences of public health advocates in shaping Australia's vaping policies.
