Oral therapies are standard of care across a range of cancers. These therapies are effective at controlling disease but often have unique adverse event profiles which create tolerability issues often early in the treatment course. Early detection and management of adverse events is critical to ensuring patient adherence and maximising the full benefit from the treatment. Nurses and allied health have routine interactions with patients receiving oral therpaies are therefore well placed to detect and discuss adverse events and recommend alterations to treatment plans, to enable patients to remain on therapy. The proposed workshop session is designed to improve nurse and allied health professionals confidence in the detection of unique adverse events, by reviewing adverse event profiles of common oral therapies, and providing practical guidance on identifying these events and recommending and communicating appropriate interventions. Content will be developed independently by the selected experts.
